The Songbird Chronicles

1.9 and what it means for Sorcerers.

Or rather, what it means for sorcewrens.

1. A two-handed weapon combining system has been implemented.
This. Is. Sexy. I`m sad I opted for a betoni`s jewel instead of tome now. I just got my fenris`s tome a week or so ago. That`s okay though, I`ll work toward the lvl 30 pvp tome to combine it to my fenris now.
Points about the system:

  • The main two-handed weapon’s item level must be higher than or equal to the secondary two-handed weapon’s item level. The two weapons must also be the same type.
  • Basic stats: 20% of the secondary weapon’s basic attack power and 20% of its magic boosting power are added to the main weapon. However, stats that are lower on the secondary weapon are not changed.
  • Option: The secondary weapon’s options are added to the main weapon. When both the main and the secondary weapons have attack speed, casting speed, and increasing options, only the higher value number will be applied.
  • Manastone slots: The secondary weapon’s manastone slots are added to the main weapon. If a secondary two-handed weapon is combined while manastones are socketed in it, the manastones will be transferred to the main weapon along with the slots.

2. Strengthening armor with an enchantment stone results in an increase in physical defense in addition to HP and physical critical resistance rate bonuses.
A reason to ++ our cloth armor now. Woohoo? More money, oy.

3. Magical critical hit effects, which only applied during an ordinary magic attack, will now also apply to class skills. Items that already have a magic critical hit proc will now match the new magic critical hit standard.
So now magic crit isn`t broken in the game. This is interesting. I wonder if there will be manastones for it. In Lineage 2, the most sought after jewelries for nukers had magic crit on them. Will that be the case here? Most of the higher level jewelries do not have magic crit stats on them, but if they release a craft for jewelry that enhances magic crit I believe I would be hard pressed to trade out my lvl 50 AP jewelry for it. The stats would have to be significantly better to beat out the pvp bonuses.

Click to see the Beluslan Angry Face

4. Physical critical hit decreasing & defense / magic critical hit decreasing & defense stats have been added to decrease the rate of critical hit damage incurred during physical / magic attacks.
That`s a mouthful. Basically there are four more stats being added: Phys. crit rate down, phys. crit defense, mag. crit rate down, and mag. crit defense. Which will be more effective, crit rate down or crit defense? Over-enchanting your armor gives you physical crit resistance which I read as defense. Really interesting, but I can`t see myself stacking any of it. If it`s on some armor I have, great! If not, oh well. Phys. crit rate only really targets leather wearers and archers` traps; I myself would not specialize myself to be an anti-leatherer, that only includes two classes! The magic effects five of the eight classes though (SMs don`t have nukes, so unless DoTs crit and the crit carries over into DoTs…) so it may be more useful.

5. Item and manastone bonuses now also affect the stats of the character’s summoned spirits, traps, and energy.
Well clerics are already a pain in the butt to kill, and usually when I face them I end up curled in a ball on the ground beneath my wings. Summons are mostly melee yes but their skills are magic based, so their skills will hurt more. Luckily there`s an easy solution to pets who are on automatic control: run them out of range of the SM.

6. All stigma stones types can now be purchased from the Stigma Seller located in the large cities.
LOL. There`s no words for how awesome this little bit is. Wooooo.

7. The Sorcerer’s “Boon of Iron-Clad” skill has been restricted so that it now blocks a maximum of 5,000 damage.
This is an unnecessary nerf. 5,000 dmage can be quickly and easily dealt, and the skill didn`t even block magic attacks beforehand. Why nerf? :(

8. The Sorcerer’s “Boon of Peace” skill cooldown time has been reduced from five to two minutes. The enmity reduction has been slightly adjusted.
Well this is helpful for things like Anuhart, Lannok, Alukina, ect. I`d imagine the enmity adjustment is to make it so a little less enmity is erased.

9. Monsters affected by fear or sleep will no longer be as angered by a players healing or buffing their allies.
Crap. lol.

10. The new skills.
Lv40 stun break – removes all stun, knockback, knockdown, rotation, air shackle effects and boosts them by 1000 for 7 secs. stage 1 combo.
Target – self
cast time – instant
cooldown – 1 min
mp cost – 81
activation chance- 100
%

Goodbye to constant stun-lock, yes? The best is yet to come…

Lv48 rift jump – teleports 30m forward. stage 2 combo.
stun break->rift jump
Target – selected
cast time – instant
cooldown – 1 min
mp cost – 83

This gives you a chance to get away from the target, say if you`re in mass or group pvp. I like to call Blind Leap my “Stop looking at me!” skill since it erases the enemy`s target. Hopefully this does as well.

Lv53 curse:dead tree – polymorphs target within 10m into an old tree for 20 secs. stage 2 combo.
stun break->curse:dead tree
Target – selected
cast time – instant
cooldown – 3 min
mp cost – 281

This one I see being better for one v one or small scale pvp. The instant cast time is delicious!

11. New stigmas. (This is 2.0 stuff, and I`m only showing flame spray tree)
Lv52 Thunderbolt – inflicts 1004 wind dmg + stun to target within 25m.
Target – selected
cast time – instant
cooldown – 2.5 min
mp cost – 405
prereq – ice sheet, zikel’s wisdom

Mmm! Another highish damage instant cast. And it stuns too! This is great imo, especially if you can time it to use after the enemy uses his Break Stun skill. Also hopefully it will help us against clerics. Good thing they are giving us 2 more quickbars!

Lv55 Frost strike – inflicts 4492 water dmg to target within 25m.
Target – selected
cast time – 4 sec
cooldown – 1 min
mp cost – 1194
prereq – flame spray, Frost strike

This would be the third installment in our big damage series, starting with Inferno, then Flame Spray, and now this. Frost Strike will have it`s advantages in being water damage, a one-minute cooldown, and the highest base damage of all three of our big booms.

12. More skills for 51+.
I don`t know if these are stigmas or skills, 1.9 or 2.0, but they`re out there.
Lv51 Boost magic crit resist – increases magic crit rate resistance.
Target – passive

Well this is good.

Lv51 Magic iceblade – inflicts 255 water dmg and absorbs 40% of dmg done into mp.
Target – selected
cast time – 1 sec
cooldown – 3 sec

Low base damage, fast cast time, fast recast time, and 40% of the dmg is turned into MP. Not counting the boost it will get from m.boost on mobs, it`ll give 102 MP. Good for spamming when you`re low on mana, note the no MP cost.

Lv54 Life trade- swaps hp and mp values.
Target – self
cast time – instant
cooldown – 10 min

Think of this as either an instant ~11k heal or an instant ~7k MP. I really like it`s prospects for being a pvp heal.

Lv55 Magic boost – reduces cast speed by 10%, +300 mb, +300 macc, +100 mcrit for 1 min.
Target – self
cast time – instant
cooldown – 5 min
mp cost – 749

LOL delicious. It`s a suitable reward for hitting 55, although I don`t really favor the five-minute reuse timer. It will probably be something I forget to use, just like Aether Hold and Supplication of Focus. I`m so bad at that ><

Well obviously it`s been forever since I`ve posted. I want to get back into the habit of posting. There`s a ton of things to catch up on too! I don`t think I can even start.. how about this: I hit level 50. Haha yeah I know, it was back in January I think. Oh I became a officer of my legion, Coven Nex, too. How did that happen? I like doing events for the legion, so I`m the official "event coordinator" lol.

I`ve been trying to grind as much Dark Poeta (DP) as I can lately. It`s more tiresome now than it was when I first started doing it though. I haven`t forgotten about my last post and I promise one day I`ll fill out the DP section for it. I have picked up some nice upgrades in there though, including a Dragon Flame Headband (for fire resist), Dragon Flame Sapphire Necklace, Atmach`s Earrings, Anuhart Sorcerer`s Gloves, Elder`s Tears and several other blue pieces of gear.

I`ve also been attending sieges a lot. Trying to get medals for more abyss gear and get inner fortresses so that we can have some better AP item flow. Currently the elyos hold all three inner forts and have for a long time. Their AP and gear just keeps getting better and better than ours, and it makes it harder and harder for us to pvp them at anything. Several of their main players have full elite AP gear already, and only more will come. It`s quite the bind we`re in, but most of the time the sieges are fun, even if they only rack up 2-4k AP a run right now.

Lately I have been working on my Fenris armor. Currently I`m stuck on the pauldrons and I hate them so far. There`s three ways to get pandaemonium medals (you need 30): kill Anuhart, kill Lannok, and do a repeatable in Brusthonin off of mobs that have about a 25% drop rate on the quest items. I despise grinding so I`ve been trying to do Lannok and DP runs as much as I can for medals. Lannok isn`t too bad.. it`s a 30 minute run if your group is good and has a cooldown of three hours. So far I`ve only seen two drops out of there though; a Lannok`s Greatsword dropped for some templar on my first run and more recently a pair of Lonely Diamond Earrings that went to a friend`s legionmate.

I think that`s going to be all for this surprise update. There`s 30mins until the Siels become vulnerable, gotta get me some medals!

Instances

The past couple of days I have hit level 41 and almost half way till 42 now, and a lot of new instances are being opened up for me. The big confusing part for me is how to get into all these instances! It`s even more frustrating that there is no comprehensive list on how to get into these instances, key notes, or anything- at least not that I could find. So here I am to remedy this dire situation. Just be aware that since I am an asmodian, all of these are for asmodians unless otherwise noted.

Obviously this list is incomplete, since I am only level 41 and not attuned to all the new instances. I`m going to ask the guys over at Blue Gartr for help in filling it out and especially with the notes.

Nochasana Training Grounds
Entrance: Behind Primum Landing
Attunement Quest: An Important Message (25)
Levels: 25-28
Notes: Your first taste of instances. Pretty straight forward. At 25 you will gain half your level by killing everything in there.

Fire Temple
Entrance: Field of Fire, Morheim
Attunement Quest: [Group] The Three Keys (27)
Levels: >27
Notes: Most groups won`t take you if you`re not level 30 or higher. There are several mini-bosses and one mega boss, Kromede the Korrupt. Vile Judge Kromede is a rare HQ version of the former, rumored to have a higher drop rate on gold weapons. Very low drop rate to start with. The mini-bosses drop relatively good gear, however, including the Flame armor sets. At higher level is possible to do it with fewer members.

Sulfer Tree Nest
Location: Sulfer Fortress
Attunement Quest: None
Levels: 30+
Notes: All the mobs are level 35. At lvl 30, it`s possible to do this instance just for exps and APs, as a sort of private exp room. Mobs are all balaur and so drop the balaur scales/hides/horns. You receive a timer once you go through the forcefield. The timer
only effects the treasure chests found in the room. These treasure chests hold artifacts and icons which can be turned in at primum landing for APs. There is also a quest beside the entrance you can pick up to kill the enemies in here which rewards an additional exp/ap reward. If you are dead when a mob is killed, however, you will not get credit for the quest.

Right Wing Chamber
Location: Siel`s Eastern Fortress
Attunement Quest: None
Levels: >30
Notes: All the mobs are level 35. At lvl 30, it`s possible to do this instance just for exps and APs, as a sort of private exp room. Mobs are all balaur and so drop the balaur scales/hides/horns. You receive a timer once you go through the forcefield. The timer
only effects the treasure chests found in the room. These treasure chests hold artifacts and icons which can be turned in at primum landing for APs. There is also a quest beside the entrance you can pick up to kill the enemies in here which rewards an additional exp/ap reward. If you are dead when a mob is killed, however, you will not get credit for the quest and there are exactly 67 mobs in the room.

Left Wing Chamber
Location: Siel`s Western Fortress
Attunement Quest: None
Levels: >30
Notes: All the mobs are level 35. At lvl 30, it`s possible to do this instance just for exps and APs, as a sort of private exp room. Mobs are all balaur and so drop the balaur scales/hides/horns. You receive a timer once you go through the forcefield. The timer effects the treasure chests found in the rooms found at the end of the six paths. These treasure chests hold artifacts and icons which can be turned in at primum landing for APs. There is also a quest beside the entrance you can pick up to kill the enemies and a boss in here which rewards an additional exp/ap reward. If you are dead when a mob is killed, however, you will not get credit for the quest, so be careful when you fight the boss as she has some pretty nasty attacks that will quickly drop you.

Draupnir Cave
Location: Draupnir Cave, Beluslan
Attunement Quest: None, but must complete all but the last campaign quest in Beluslan.
Levels: >39
Notes: “To have a decent time in Draupnir you will need to be level 46+. To do a speed run, 48+.” (Gamble, BG) Draupnir is a big, big instance so people come to Draupnir with one of two things in mind: bosses or campaign quest.

Alquimia Research Center
Location: Alquimia Stronghold, Beluslan
Attunement Quest: A Spy Among the Lepharists (40)
Levels: >40
Notes: Asmodians will come here to to finish up their campaign quest A Spy Among the Lepharists as well as to get their lv 42 skill books. It is a pretty straight forward, generally short instance that offers pretty decent exp. With no re-enter timer, it makes a good grind instance for the exp as well as the chance to make good money with unneeded books.

Asteria Chamber
Location: Asteria Fortress, Upper Abyss
Attunement Quest: None
Levels: >40
Notes: All the mobs are level 45 or level 50. It is recommended to be at least level 45, and 49-50 if you want to clear to more than one loot chest. Mobs are all balaur and so drop the balaur scales/hides/horns/hearts/bloods. You receive a timer once you go through the forcefield. The timer, as with the lower abyss instances, effects the treasure chests found in the room. These treasure chests hold artifacts, icons, goblets and crowns which can be turned in at primum landing for APs. Goblets and crowns can alternatively be turned in at the core for additional AP bonus. There is also a quest beside the entrance you can pick up to kill the enemies in here which rewards an additional exp/ap reward. If you are dead when a mob is killed, however, you will not get credit for the quest and there are exactly 44 mobs in the room. A common “strategy” is to just get the two chests on the wings and finish the quest every 2 runs.

Chamber of Roah
Location: Roah Fortress, Upper Abyss

Krotan Chamber
Location: Krotan Fortress, Upper Abyss
Attunement Quest: None
Levels: >40
Notes:

Kysis Chamber
Location: Kysis Fortress, Upper Abyss
Attunement Quest: None
Levels: >40
Notes

Miren Chamber
Location: Miren Fortress, Upper Abyss
Attunement Quest: None
Levels: >40
Notes

(S.S.) Steel Rake (arrghh matey)
Location: Airship Docks, Pandaemonium
Attunement Quest: The Shugo from Pandaemonium (40)
Levels: >40
Notes: Steel Rake (SR) has three levels, usually divided into two runs: Mid and Lower/Upper. Mid can be run from level 40+ and completes the repeatable quests for hats and wine. It contains two “bosses”, though the loot table on one of them (Madame Bovariki) is not that great. The second boss can drop gold gear however. Lower/Upper runs generally start around level 45 and consist of four bosses: Special Delivery, Engineer Lahulahu, Chief Gunner Koakoa, and Brass-Eye Grogget. Your group will need to be 46+ to take down Brass Eye. The last three bosses can drop gold gear. On top of the gear, advanced stigma quests are completed here. The first one is completed on Mid and the second one is completed in Lower/Upper.

Aetherogenetics Lab
Location:
Attunement Quest:
Levels:
Notes: The Elyos equivalent of Alquimia Research Center.

Indratu Fortress
Location:
Attunement Quest: A: take dimensional rift to Indratu Fortress. E: Complete Heiron Campaign Indratu Legion.
Levels: >44
Notes: “Perhaps the worst instance in the game for Elyos. When you complete Indratu Legion if you speak to Perento he WILL teleport you to the instance portal. However he will only do this a single time. If you wish to go back to this instance you will be forced to fight your way through the Nute Warren tunnels. The Nute Warrens monsters are higher level than the instance itself and is not easily passable. The instance portal is further guarded by a level 48 Legendary Boss.” (Niwaar, Elyos, BG)

Adma Stronghold
Location: Adma Stronghold, Brusthonin
Attunement Quest: The Secret of Adma Stronghold (46)
Levels: >46
Notes:

Dredgion
Location: None
Attunement Quest:
Levels: >46
Notes: Dredgion pits you against a team of elyos in a PvPvE timed instance. You do not lose AP or EXP upon death, and if you go to your start point upon dying you will rez with 100% HP, MP, and no rez sickness. There are three methods to enter dredgion: Private Entry, Quick Entry, and Group Entry. Private Entry will get you in a group that has not already started dredgion. Quick Entry will get you into the first group that has a spot open, regardless if the match has started or not. Group Entry can only be done by a party`s leader and is more often referred to as a “pre-made” since these groups are usually formed before the dredgion starts.

Dark Poeta
Location: The Core (9 O`clock), The Abyss; Hoarfrost, Beluslan; Heiron
Attunement Quest: A Future Threat (50)
Levels: 50
Notes: Dark Poeta is a big, long instance. It is a bit different because it`s a race against the timer, which is four hours. You are given two minutes to prepare and when you open the door a timer starts. You also have a score, and at the end of the instance you are given a grade which determines the difficulty and loot table of the very last boss.

PvPing

This past week has been a pretty constructive week for me; I have hit level 39, am 65% away from 40, hit 281 tailoring, 295 ground gathering, and found a great new legionary home with Coven Nex, who are ranked 5th in Abyss Rankings! With my newfound friends in legion, and of course my old ones, I`ve been racking up the kills and AP as well as honing in my pvp skills as a sorc. Sorc may seem like a target-and-nuke-the-living-daylights-out-of-it pvp class but there is so much more to it than that! It will take awhile to get the hang of everything there is to master on sorc.

Aion0071

To kick off my recent joining with Coven Nex (CN) I went to the Sulfur Fortess siege Saturday night with them and we took over the fort. Yay! It seemed very well organized by CN and gave a very good first impression on the legion. As for the siege itself, my first ever, I really had no idea what was going on. We started by attacking the gate into the castle, much like L2 castle sieges, and moved inside and down into the dungeon-type area to kill the General. By the time I realized I had a defending NPC targeted and had been nuking it, the General was already down to about 25%, so I sort of didn`t contribute much.. at all. It was still fun though, a nice sort-of bonding experience with my new legion and a good start to get me familiarized with how things work.

On top of spending more time in the abyss, I`ve been trying to catch more rifts lately. Rifts are something I really enjoy for several reasons including exploring new areas and fighting the enemy on their turf. Hopping through a rift in a barren snowy landscape and getting spit out into a lush jungle with aggroing flowers and dinosaurs is a fun change. Add in the fact that you have no clue where you are, or at the most some vague idea from online maps (unless you`ve been through it before of course) and there`s a huge sense of adventure as well as metal gear solid (MGS) since you are ultimately there to kill the enemy.

With how much pvp I`ve been doing lately, I`m surprised at how many of my friends don`t know what a pvp text radar is and therefore do not have one. I cannot stress how much of a benefit having a text radar is. Not only will it give you a bit of an edge so you`re slightly prepared for what`s coming, it will also give you the names of your enemies so that if you are able to alt+tab or have a 2nd computer, you can look the person up and see all sorts of useful information.

So how does one make this pvp text radar? Click on the “Chat Preferences Menu” on your chat box and select “Add Tab”. You can name it anything you want, mine is called PvP. Uncheck all of the boxes for Chat, Channel, Combat-Self, Combat-Group, and System Information then go into Combat-Others and check the boxes beside everything that starts with “Enemy`s”. Enemy`s Attack. Enemy`s Attack Skills. Enemy`s Buff Skills. Enemy`s Periodic Effects. Enemy`s Defense. Then change the color of these to something that will catch your. Again my personal preference is straight up red. Once your done click “Change” and your new tab is created, but you`re not done yet! Click and hold the tab`s name and drag it out onto your screen somewhere, put it in a place where you`ll see it. If there is no pvp or hasn`t been any for a while, the chat box will fade away and not hinder your screen, but when there is, it will pop up there.

Using this has saved my life so many times, and the lives of my friends who I`ve shown how to make it. Whenever you see “Shadowas restored his flight time by 48.” or “Shungokusatsu is in the Hide I state.” or “Wren uses Zikel`s Wisdom.” you know something is coming and can be ready for it. :)

Abyss and Beluslan

For the past few days I have been pushing to level up since I feel like a complete lowbie in my legion. I know it seems to many that levelling comes easy: you do some quests and before you know it you`re dinging! This has not been my case for the past six levels or so.

Six levels ago I duo`d everything with my best friend Cerverai. Cerv played a chanter and let me tell you, there is nothing that tops having a chanter along as a sorcerer. The best part? He was my tank. We never got to test it in a formal instance setting like NTG or FT, but whenever he tried or got fed up with the lack of competency of our templar, Cerverai was a pretty damn good chanter tank.

Anyway about three weeks ago he stopped playing. I didn`t know why or that this was going to happen, he never told me. After one day he just didn`t log on and I never heard from him on AIM or anything. So I moped around for about a week, soloing on my SM alt until I finally got impatient and frustrated enough to go back to playing my beloved Wren. Things weren`t the same though, and I soon found myself in a levelling slump with no motivation at all to level.

That slump lasted for awhile- up until a few days ago actually, when I joined The Abyss Mafia. Now that I was in a closer-knit group than PermaRed, I started to feel the need and pressure to level again, and it went by incredibly fast! I spent the majority of levels 30-32 around Lake Asteria and Asteria Fortress, doing the repeatable found in the fortress, medicinal purposes. Combined with doing abyss fortress instances and some FT runs with my new legion, I`ve been plowing through the levels faster than a California wildfire and as of tonight am 20% away from level 35!

I`m really sad I`ve lost Cerverai in game, but I don`t think I`ve lost him in my life yet. (Thank god) On the other hand though, if I had waited around for him I wouldn`t have met my current legion, which I`m much happier with. I suppose it`s karma or something, but losing Cerverai will be a sore spot in my heart for a long time I think.

And now for my helpful bit that may actually be of some interest to you. This little tidbit comes from, again, Blue Gartr, and was put on Blue Gartr from AionSource. I have personally “tested” it and currently use it now in game, though I thik I still want to do some tweaking around. Anyway, here it is:

-First, run Notepad (Windows default text editor).
-Second, Copy & Paste the following into Notepad, explanation follows:

#Basic settings#

con_disable_console = "0"
g_open_aion_web= "0"
g_save_preset = "1"
d3d9_TripleBuffering= "1"
r_Texture_Anisotropic_Level= "16"
d3d9_TextureFilter= "TRILINEAR"

As you can see, Code contains 6 command-lines most of which are self-explanatory. Nevertheless here is a breakdown:

con_disable_console = "0" -Allows you to use the in-game console by pressing PauseBreak key
g_open_aion_web= "0" -Disables opening Aion webpage when quiting
d3d9_TripleBuffering= "1" -Enables Triple buffering, this must be set to enabled, it offers a significant performance boost-
r_Texture_Anisotropic_Level= "16" -Enables 16x Anisotropic filtering, sharpens textures with minimal performance loss-
d3d9_TextureFilter= "TRILINEAR" -Sets filtering type to 'Trilinear'
g_save_preset = "1"-Saves your settings
- 1 means enabled, 0 means disabled, this is only true for enable/disable options

As the title above them suggests, these are 'Basic' settings, they enhance the game without much of a performance hit. If you think 16x Anisotropic is too much you can change the value to 8 or 4. Even if you dont like playing with configurations and not sure what any of this means, you should atleast have the 'Triple buffering' command line [ d3d9_TripleBuffering= "1" ], it can and will improve your performance.

-Finally, click Save as in notepad. Name the file " system.ovr " without the Quotes and save it to a location you remember. You must save the text file with this name or it wont work.

Alright, now you have a text file named ' system.ovr ' which contains the above settings, to actually use these settings in Aion, we do the following:
-Browse to your Aion folder [ex. C:\Aion ]
-Look for a text file named 'system.cfg' and delete it, this file saves your last settings, and is auto-created every time you exit the game, so no need to worry.
-Copy 'system.ovr' that we created into your Aion folder.

That is all, the next time you run the game. The settings in the 'system.ovr' will be processed. Its important to remember that the values you set in system.ovr may not be correctly displayed in the game's default graphics settings menu. So don't let that confuse you.

Aion Tips and Tricks

I realize that this is a first post… and since I can`t think of where to start, I figured I would give a comprehensive list of tips and tricks I`ve heard about or discovered. If you have any that aren`t listed, feel free to leave them in a comment and I`ll post `em up.

Quests:

  • Upon hitting level 9, stop progressing on all quests and do your Ascension quest. The reward for this will get you to level 10.
  • At 29 and 35 you get quests for free cube upgrades. A free WH upgrade is available at 29, as well.

Gathering & Crafting:

  • Start levelling your gathering skill at the very beginning – you won`t regret it.
  • Taking alchemy to 50 is cheap and easy, and you can make the low level MP and HP pots with it at lv 50. You can also make some quick, small money with it too.

Levelling:

  • Greys and White (gears) are a great source of income from the broker, keep them!
  • Learn what your spells and abilities do and how they might effect a party.
  • “C” key = Attack/Chat
  • You can pull a single mob out of a group of mobs by using a DoT and running till the others give up.
  • Hot key your most frequently used brands, and hot key a corresponding select brand. Ex: Brand Target Zzz : NumPad 2 | Select Branded Target Zzz: Alt-NumPad 2.
  • If you click on a mob that will agro you, and you look at your minimap, it will have a little radar scanning around it, that’s how close you can get to the mob before it will aggro you.
  • If you set the loot settings to “Free-for-all, Roll dice rare items or above, Auto distribute miscellaneous items”, then everything under green will be auto-distributed and can be looted by anyone. This way it doesn’t matter who is first, everything randoms out, and only one person needs to loot. If you are getting quest items like krall marks however, every person needs to loot for those. The checkbox is the key.
